Howdy. Glad you're here. Get your fill of my irreverent ramblings. I'll warn you in advance: I complain a lot. But if you can get past that, there's some good stuff here. Enjoy.

I kid you not. I gave up after about three tries. The Hardest Game in the World. Proceed at the risk of your own sanity.

Stuff White People Like

Not sure how many people might already know about this, but there is a hilarious blog called Stuff White People Like. Some people find this thing offensive, but I find it hilarious.

St. Patrick's Day

Being of Irish decent, I love St. Patrick's Day. The entire purpose of the day is to celebrrate my heritage by drinking Guinness, Irish whisky, and maybe a little green beer just for good measure. Now, St. Patty's ususally falls on the 17th, but apparently this year the Vatican pushed the date of the celebrtion back to the 15th. Something about Irish people getting hammered in celebration of thier saint (don't they get hammered all the time? That's what Hollywood tells me) didn't really mesh well with the begining of one of the most holy weeks of the year. Fair 'nough. Anyway, that means that celebrating the holiday a little early is 100% acceptable. I'm thinking we should all celebrate it twice...

On the St. Patty's note, I was recently reminded of Proposition 3-17. Leave it to the marketing geniuses at Guinness to come up with this one. Guinness would like to make St. Patty's an official holiday in the US. The kicker is that they need to have 1 million signatures on their electronic petition by midnight on March 16th. I signed it... half the fun is trying to figure out how to make your signature look decent signing with your mouse. I would love to see this happen, but i think it still needs over 800,000 people to sign... You know what to do.

The most FOUL blog I have ever found

Because I spend a lot of time on a computer everyday, I stumbe across a lot of random blogs. I found a series of entries on a blog called "The Sneeze" called Steve, Don't Eat That. Now, this is pretty much what it sounds like. This guy, Steve, finds the most disgusting stuff around and eats it. Lots of "foreign delicacies," and lots of really, really foul stuff. I have a very stron stomach, and I feel totally nauseated from reading a few of the entries right now. Read it if you dare. The pictures are what will probably make you hurl. Bon appetit!

It's been at least a week...

...Since I posted anything on here. That's what happens when I get distracted with work. Or something like that.

Yesterday was my 23rd birthday. Overall, not the most eventful birthday to date, but an awesome one nonetheless. I had at least 4 separate people tell me how birthdays become infinitely less exciting when you become a member of the real world. That's fine by me.

Thanks again to everyone who wished me a happy birthday via facebook or text. I tried to get back to everyone, but if I missed you, thanks a million. Libby kept getting mad at me for monopolizing her news feed with my wall posts. This only encouraged me to post more.

I don't have any super interesing web junk or new music to post right now, although I did get an iTunes gift card, and I plan on scouring the store to find something awesome. I'll let you know.

That's about it for now... just getting really excited for the weekend. Spring skiing conditions are coming up quickly, which is always great. The weather's warming up (the high is 35 today! I might wear shorts!) and the sun has been shining more than ever. We apparently have a bunch of people coming to the house for the weekend, and I fully plan on extending my birthday celebrations into the weekend!

New Discovery

The sun has actually been shinig here in Vail for 2 or 3 days in a row. I'm pretty sure this is a record number of consecutive non-cloudy/non-snowy days since I moved here. I actually wore sunglasses driving to work today. I welcome the sun, but I want it to keep snowing so I can get a few more epic ski days in before the end of the season in April.

But I digress. I wanted to share a cool new online shopping destination I found... Etsy is a place where people sell the cool stuff they make. It has everything from art and furniture to clothes and jewelry. Very cool place... Check it out.

Happy V-Day

Happy "Singles Awareness Day," people. I'm usually pretty anti-V-day, partly because I'm always single and partly because I think it's a bogus holiday, but "SAD" (even the acronym is pathetic) is even too bitter for me. I mean, at least I got a sweet present from my mom, aka the best Valentine ever (Thanks!!)... And my roommate Holly did make a delicious heart-shaped cake last night (which will definitely fall victim to late-night snacking tonight).

However, I do enjoy anti Valentine's messaging...

Best text message of the day:
"Happy Valentine's Day! Just remember what this day is all about... A saint who was tortured and beheaded. Romantic, right?"

And the best e-card: CLICK ME. Ironic that it's a Hallmark card? Yes, I think so.

I plan on celebrating this momentus holiday in my favorite way: by babysitting half the night and then hopefully going out and celebrating my singledom by going to the bars with friends.

I wish I would have thought of this

200 people freeze in Grand Central Station for 5 minutes.

You'll listen to Joshua James if you know what's good for you...

I took my little sister, Maddie, to see Matt Nathanson live in concert at the Fox Theater in Boulder this weekend. It's kind of our sister thing, going to shows. I really enjoy having a sister that's up for any kind of concert that I drag her into.

Matt is a singer/songwriter who you probably haven't heard of. And that is your loss. Now, I'd seen Matt before in Austin, TX during one of my Austin City Limits adventures. He is, hands down, one of the most entertaining performers out there. Half great songs and amazing musicianship, half stand up comedy. Personally, I think part of the fun of going to see someone live is the banter. I love banter. Moral of the story: if you have a chance to go see him live, do it.

Now, if you've never driven in Boulder, I'm going to go ahead and recommend that you get a GPS before you go there. You may even want to learn how to figure out your coordinate based on the stars, because that honestly has to be the most confusing place to drive. Ever.

After getting us pretty lost in Boulder, I finally found the Fox and did battle with crazy drivers for about 20 minutes trying to find a place to park. Street parking on "The Hill" by the University of Colorado campus is not an easy task. The only spot I could find was meter parking... Which was great, seeing as though I've had next to no change in my car for a while now. But that's what happens when you live in the only place in the world where the do-it-yourself car wash costs $3.50 just to start.

After pumping an hour and thirty minutes worth of change into the meter for a timespan that would end up being closer to four and half hours, Maddie and I were on our way to the theater hoping that I wouldn't get a ticket (I didn't... It seems the law in Boulder is much more concerned with pulling over every person with a vehicle and not so much with the meters at midnight).

Back to the matter at hand: music you should DEFINITELY be listening to.

The opener for Matt was Joshua James, a dude I'd never heard of before. He came on the stage almost 40 minutes late, which I found VERY annoying (though, come to find out shows at the Fox rarely begin on time, so my annoyance may have been unnecessarily pointed at James). Once he hit the stage, no one was really paying attention until he sang his first word. James has a beautiful, whispery voice that commanded the attention of the room. I have never watched a performer that was SO unbelievable connected emotionally to his music. Most of his material is pretty sad, but it's really touching to listen to him sing about the subjects that obviously had a huge impact on his life.

Check out the video below. He opened with this song. Amazing.

This is totally going to be my new sport

Thanks to my mom, who scours the Vail Daily online most mornings, I think I've found my calling in life. And that calling is skijoring.

This looks awesome. Seriously. I think I'm going to take my rock skis down to the front range this weekend and get my little sister to pull me out in the yard behind one of the ponies. This plan is totally fool-proof, right?

Ego Boost

This is probably more Monday appropriate, but I was actually working ALL day yesterday...

How awesome are you? Find out.

I'm going to visit this site every time I doubt myself in any capacity. Am I awesome at life? Am I an awesome friend? Am I an awesome dancer?

The empowerment is great!

I'm SO Doing This...

... But not really. I'm more likely to be a contestant on The Price is Right than American Gladiators. I must say, however, that I'm happy the show is back. I've told th stroy a hundred times to my friends, but the show reminds me of when I was younger. Jim and I used to watch it on those boring days during the summer when there was nothing else on TV. That and Saved by the Bell. There weren't a lot of other kids in our neighborhood, so we had to come up with imaginitive things to do to keep busy. These "imaginative" activities usually involved Jim coming up with some way to kick my butt, and playing pretend Galdiators was always a viable option.

"We're going to play that game... the one where you have to get the ball into the can in the middle of the room and I try to stop you. GO."

This generally resulted in my being body slammed into the ground or catapulted across the room.

Sometimes I'm amazed that Jim and I are as close as we are.

PC Load Letter?

I hate this song. But I love this video.

Pay special attention around 1:28.

New Album to Check Out

I'm pretty music obsessed. Now you know. Look forward to me talking a lot about music I find or that gets recommended to me.

On that note, I've been listening to the new ZOX album, Line in the Sand, nonstop since I downloaded it last week. It's their third major release. A much more mature sound from the band, which hails from Providence, RI. ZOX has one of the most unique (and awesome) sounds I've found in a while. Anyone who can rock on a violin has my vote. Give them a listen. You won't regret it... And once you're in love, download their first tow albums.

Crazy times...

I spent a good amount of time looking through pictures from Jenny and Derek Glenn's wedding last night. Awesome. They really complete the collection of photos (facebook albums here , here and here) from the weekend.

That weekend was one of the most in a long time. Check out the photos for a few gems. I'm pretty sure I made a total idiot of myself, but isn't that what weddings are about?
My favorites are from the reception.

Best Party So Far, That's What Everyone's Been Saying

Australian teenager Corey Worthington has to be the biggest idiot in the world.  Either that or he's a complete and utter genius.  He used MySpace to invite over 500 kids to a party.  Party... aka riot in the streets.  Read a blog post I found on it here.  I can't believe he's pulled that off.  The biggest number I've been able to get anywhere using Facebook or MySpace was about 100 or so kids to the University Pub in Fort Worth for what we dubbed the Ultimate Pub Wednesday.  But 500 people? Nuts.
Even better is this kids completely irreverent attitude about what happened.  The video is classic.

"No, no. I'll leave these on. I like them."

Why is the reporter so intent on getting him to remove his glasses? Is this the point? I mean, come on, the glasses are famous.

The Obligatory "What Is This Blog About?" Post

Like the above description implies, I created this blog so I would have a place to comment on all the crazy stuff I come across in my life. Be it internet content, crazy conversations, adventures or anything in between, I plan on commenting about it here. In the past, I've tried to create journal-like blogs. I finally quit it with those when I realized that no one really gives a crap about what I would write in my journal. So I'm going to stick with sarcastic, and potentially insightful (not likely) commentary.

Enjoy.
